Therapies used to help my clients
I work as a person-centred counsellor integrating cognitive behavioural therapy(CBT), analytical theories, humanistic, existential and transpersonal approaches.
I work within an ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy [BACP] and have regular supervision with a qualified supervisor.
With my training as an integrative practitioner I am able to look at the most appropriate approach to suit the individual client to help them gain the best results for them. When the counsellor and client work together in a trusting relationship within a confidential setting, with acceptance and understanding, I believe change and healing is possible for everyone.

When I was a school counsellor I interacted with children, adolescents, staff and parents, helping them to meet their emotional, psychological, relational and educational needs.I have worked at a holistic drug treatment centre where clients underwent treatments to overcome their addictive behaviour. The skills I gained here helps me to prevent young people getting into substance misuse.
In my private practice, I see clients with panic disorder, persistent pain, dementia, trauma, bereavement, relationship issues and couple counselling. I also see clients referred by their doctor for anxiety and depression.
OTHER AREAS OF COUNSELLING I DEAL WITH
I see adults going through stress at work, redundancy, career change and lack of meaning to life.
I have much experience in working with sixth former students We address issues that are affecting their home and school life in this crucial time of personal development. Some of the problems brought to counselling are lack of motivation, self harm, relationship breakdown and lack of meaning in life. By the use of talking therapy the student learns to manage his or her emotional self so that their mind is clear to focus on studies and future career.
My particular area of expertise with families is working with a parent or both parents to improve the relationship with their teenage children.
I am a Registered Provider with Aviva Health Insurance.
